The library of the Casa di Goethe is a reference library. Lending is not possible.
Use of the library is only possible after telephone registration.
Bags, jackets and coats have to be handed in at the entrance. All library users must deposit their student or identity card before entering the library. Mobile phones have to be switched off. It is not permitted to take food or drinks with you. Remain silent when working in the library.

The computer catalogue, also called OPAC, is located in the library. The use is permitted after arrangement.
Users must register themselves in the visitor's book and recognize thereby the regulations of the library order. The signature, author and title of the book, the date of the removal and the name of the user must be noted. The books may only be removed and returned by Casa di Goethe staff.

It is possible to make photocopies of the library's holdings at one's own expense (0.10 cents per page) and in compliance with the law (Italian Law No. 248 of 18.8.2000 - a maximum of 15% of pages may be copied). Particularly sensitive works and all works published before 1900 may not be copied. On request, such pages can be photographed at own expenses by a photographer suggested by the library.Photocopies may only be made by employees of Casa di Goethe. The user is liable for all damages caused during the production of photocopies.
   

The user is liable for all damages caused by him; in particular, data carriers, card index boxes, books and magazines are to be handled carefully, books are not to be highlighted or painted on.
   

The library staff may, until further notice, exclude persons from using the library who seriously violate the rules.
